AmosSummary of the book:
Amos was a farmhand or owner from Tekoo in Judah. We do not know whether or not he was just a farmhand or if he was an owner. He was challenged a lot for lacking the “necessary” credentials that the priests at Bethel believed he needed. We don’t know how long his ministry was, we just know that he was called by God to prophesy. The date of Amos is two years before the big earthquake that happened in about 750 BC. It was during the reign of Uzziah of Judah. The time of Amos was full of wealth, power, and corruption. Onslaught of Assyria was not far away, Assyria conquered them in 732-721 BC. The structure of the book is spilt into two parts. The first part is judgment; first against the nations in chapters 1-2 and the second id against Israel in 3-6. The second part of the book is vision reports and restorations in chapters 7-9. |

How Can You Apply This To Your Own Life?
Applications: God is sovereign and he will judge sinners. He will especially judge his people, but the judgments could take years just like it did for Judah. No sin is too small for God to judge us for it so do we really want to wait for him to judge us or do we want to repent now before he does?
